Elm is a traditional Ontario hardwood, more precious today than in times past because of the dramatic loss due to Dutch Elm disease. This honey-hued table is solid and contemporary. The gentle curved chair backs and generous seats make gathering for dinner a comfort. Tapered octagonal legs on the tables, chair, and bench are strong yet elegant.

A thick, 10-foot beam of spalted maple from an old fallen tree floats 30 inches above the floor. Its surface is meticulously polished by hand. The grain patterns are like a story. Blackened oak legs blend in with the chairs so the extraordinary tabletop does most of the talking.
